Herbal Anti Ageing Gel Recipe

Today we are going to make some gel with anti ageing properties.

You might ask why I am doing and anti ageing formulation.

I am nearing my birthday and this year I will turn 39 years and though I have been following my skincare routine to a T but now I needed something more that can hydrate my skin and combat the winter dryness.

I have a acne prone skin so could not use oil based serum so I thought why not formulate something with water and the first thing that came to my mind was gels.

I have used Solagum AX for so many of my formulation that I feel I am in love with this gelling agent.

It is so easy to use and has a great skin feel. On my quest of infusing Ayurvedic herbs to modern formulations I came across this beautiful blend of herbs that at particularly important for skincare.

It with Aethon International who introduced me to this blend of herbs and were generous enough to send me a sampler to try it on. I did several test batches and various combinations and narrowed my recipe down to the one which worked best for me.

Let me tell you more about this blend of Anti-Ageing Extract. This is a water soluble extract so it so much easier to make a nice water based product like gels or serums.

They also have the same extract in oil soluble format for creams or oil based serums. What I really like about this extract is it is alcohol and hexane free.

Herbs used in this extract are Vetiver Frankincense, myrrh, geranium, sandalwood, pomegranade, Neroli, Avocado and Rosehip.

Thought you can make your own extract but sometimes getting ready to made ingredients just makes our life easier. I do not know how much of the ingredients they have used as it is a proprietary formulation.

So I had a chat with the customer care and they assured me that by using the recommended amount of extract I would get desired results.

Once I was satisfied with the result I made sure I get more extracts from them and formulate with it. I hope in the near future I would be able to share the trials I had done with the extracts that I have from them.

Now coming to the recipe.

I have used Allantoin and Niacinamide in this recipe because since the time I have started using them in my skincare products the results have reached another level.

I mean they are really above the curve so now a days I rarely make anything without them.

This is the reason I did an indept study about them and wrote a blogpost explaining what those ingredients actually are.

Please make sure you read about them before purchasing them.

I would highly recommend to do your own research about them from various studies and the insert them into your skincare formulations

How to make Herbal Anti Aging Gel

Step 1

Sanitise everything that you will be using for this recipe

Step 2

Measure out DM water and allantoin and mix them. To mix allantoin you would need to microwave it short bursts or put it on a double boiler whichever way you prefer.

Step 3

Now measure out niacinamide, cucumber extract, anti ageing extract, dimethicone, siilk protien, iscaguard peg, and Solagux AX and mix them throughly and let them be stable for 15 to 20 minutes.

Solagum AX will gel up the whole formula and bring everything together nicly.

Voila! Your very own anti ageing gel is ready now just bottle it up and use it at night,

Substitutions

Star Ingredient of this formulation is Anti-Ageing Extract so you would not be able to substitute it with anything.

You can add Hyaluronic acid if you wish to substitute Solagum AX but the cost would increase for the recipe so be mindful.

Maybe a mixture of both might be interesting. Let me know if you try this out.

You can substitute DM water with any hydrosols that you desire and I am sure it would be lovely.

It will impart its own fragrance too.

Instead of Iscaguard as preservative you can add any water soluble broadspectrum preservative of your choice.

Instead of Glycerine you can add any humectant that you have on hand or you can just skip it your choice.

Since glycerine is the cheapest humectant there I love to use it for that.
